In collaboration with Fashion for Good, this closing study compares established test methods for quantifying fibre fragmentation and investigates root causes across three fabric archetypes using a controlled experiment.
The first large-scale global study into the effects of fabric characteristics on fibre fragmentation during laundering. We have utilised data in The Microfibre Data Portal, which contains standardised test results and their respective fabric specifications from over a thousand diverse fabrics.
The use of recycled polyester (rPET) has been steadily growing across the industry. When new materials are adopted, it is vital to consider their impact holistically and ensure they are not causing unintended consequences. This is a small-scale study of the effect of recycled polyester fibres on fibre fragmentation.
